Basic question. Why are immigrants and emigrants disliked so much?
Immigrants, I can understand - they use your resources, steal your jobs etc.
    Emigrants - I don't understand.

    PS. I'm an immigrant myself.

"It's the immygants!?!? I knew it was them! Even when it was the bears, I knew it was them"

Immigrants are disliked due to petty jealousy
Emigrants are disliked due to petty jealousy

Really? So whose job did you steal? Was it armed robbery or was a street theft!

Simple answer is that you're always going to get people who hate other people for some reason

You can move to an parish in the next county, get married and 30 years later you will still be a blow in to the locals

Nothing to do with immigration realy, Irish people can be outsiders too

Sorry for the typos, fixed now. Tough to type. "I'm chokin' on my own rage over here!"

  • People hate emigrants because they're jealous that they didn't have the balls to do it themselves. I'm bloody sick of all the begrudging, passive-aggressive comments I get when I post pictures of my city in Spain.

    "Nice for some!"
"Nice work if you can get it!"
"Wouldn't we all love to love there?"

Well, why don't you fking move here then if you think it's so great? Just see how you like living on 400 euro a month, doing everything in a foreign language, having no friends, sorting out endless bureaucracy?

No, you wouldn't do it, would you? So just carry on sitting in your 3 bed semi in Armagh, doing the job you hate and moan about but do nothing to change it. Just carry on begrudging me!

If you are Eastern European, female and hot then we very much like you.
If not, then you had better not be on social welfare.

    Eastern European - check.

    That's about it.

I'm not on Social Welfare, but my dad is. He's been made redundant after 6 years of paying his taxes, does that count?

    Simples.

Tribalism. People are scared of things that are different. People who hold different values, have different customs, speak different languages or look different stand out to those who haven't been exposed to them before and I'd imagine that there's an unconscious biological effect that creates mistrust and fear in this case for obvious historical reasons dating back millions of years.

People don't like me because I am an emigrant? Boo-hoo!

I will go wherever I need to to work & earn a crust to support my family.
I know people back home refuse jobs because it is on the far side of Dublin from where they live. (And even complain if they have to travel to the next village - 8km away - to get to work.)

God be with the days when we could be picky.

Generally those who complain about emigrants & immigrants are just Lazy begrudging fnckers who would rather sit on the holes giving out rather than getting off their own arses & doing something about their own situation.

being afraid of the unfamiliar is a primal trait linked back to the days our cave dwelling friends hunted for food/were hunted.

it is in own personal view that not every human loses this primal trait, made dependant on their upbringing;inheriting their past and present familys beliefs-affecting the way they think, and their suggestibility to peer and media pressure, plus easier suggestibility to environmental change.

this also explains why people are afraid of any group divergent from the norm; eg, race & nationality that is a minority in the target country, disability, mental illness, any sexuality besides hetro, minority religeons, ginger hair etc.
many of these groups were at one point or another treated as witchcraft or a spreadable dirty disease, and though no excuse am of the belief that evolution is the 'back end' to this- the program running silently in the background; whilst the 'front end' is upbringing and learned beliefs/learned behavior.

am not against people of any group bar paedos who avoid getting help, animal abusers and abusers of vulnerable adults, people are all the same object from own perspective but its part of being autistic that makes it that way.
mum however is a hypocrite-racist like most racists theyre hypocrites, goes on about imigrants going to england all the time when she was an imigrant from ireland, she acts nice to them but talks very nastily about them behind their back and thinks they shoud all dress like westerners and be the same as us,that is a fear of the unfamiliar.

Actual conversation my a friend of mine had with another guy in the last week.

My friend: You wouldn't be up for heading for a weekend away with me and another guy?

Other guy: that the Polish fella? He's on the dole is he I suppose?

MF: No he works 3 jobs.

OG: No wonder there's no work around.

No win situation. Some people just don't like other people. Other guy just back from spending two years working in Australia.

The people who are anti-immigrant are usually welfare spongers themselves.
Inward migration should always be welcome so long as its legal and welfare loopholes are closed.

In Ireland I think people dislike Immigrants because of jobs welfare and so on.In OZ the Irish are starting to be discriminated quite a bit as we are the immigrants over there and the irish are taking quite a lot of there jobs. I have seen it myself quite a bit. Its the same all around the world

No need to pity us poor emigrants, I'm quite happy actually, too much doom and gloom in Ireland for me right now.
Each to their own. I have no regrets

I don't think many people would have any problem with legal immigrants coming here. Not sure what is the point anymore though coming over here seeing as there are no jobs.

Illegal immigrants shouldn't be allowed to remain and should be deported.

That's the policy in the States and it seems fair to me, I don't see why Irish illegals should get any special treatment over there either and always found it strange that the Government was looking for this from the US Government.

Maybe people just don't like immigrants because they don't, simple. there's no huge hidden meaning behind it. Humans dislike plenty of things for absolutely no reason, colours, songs, cars, countries, clothes, music etc. so why should disliking any other human be different? People disliking immigrants I couldn't care less about to be honest. But when they treat them different through discrimination or violent actions then that I wouldn't agree with. But at the end of the day humans can dislike whatever they want for no reason, great thing about being human is free will no matter what!!
