well lads, thinking of going for a .17hmr,i already own a cz452,have heard the .17 is a much flatter trajectory, and longer range,am a bit worried about the noise though,as im mostly a night shooter.rabbits, the odd fox,so how loud is it with a suppressor?any help/advice/suggestion,welcome,thanks all;)P.S. heard a dm80 suppressor makes the .17 sound like an air rifle, true or bull.???

All rounds for the .17 break the sound barrier so although yes you can take away some of the noise the crack of the bullet breaking the sound barrier will still be there and there is no way of stopping this unless of course you have some subsonic rounds but then the .22 would be far more effective. They don't even make them so it is a mute point. So in short yes it was bull.

The hmr is not that loud anyway, not loud enough to dusturb people i thats what your worried about unless your shooting very near a house which you shouldnt be doing anyway...

HMR with SAK silencer sounds like a standard velocity .22 round with no silencer. There is still a fair crack from the 17 but the silencer takes away the loud 'bang'. Hope this helps.

BTW if you shoot rabbits within a 60 yard range you will be more comfortable with a .22 with silencer using subsonics and will easily take head shots. The HMR is great for anything up to and beyond 100 yds but you will have to take head shots all the time if you want good meat.

I have a 17hmr, which is very accurate if you keep it clean, I bought a 452 in 22 and find it far easier gun to live with.

Hmr is easy shooting at 200 yards! I found i got better reaults with the 20gr holliw points, no meat damage on rabbits

hi there,if a hmr with silencer sounds like a .22 without silencer, that's pretty loud,i have heard a dm80 is way way better than a sak,can anyone confirm or deny this, thanks all

For the extra length weight and money they're not worth it.. The LEI is meant to be the best mod out there for rimfires. but its €160 which is a lot of money compared to a 40 quid sak for little benefit.

The hmr isn't too bad with a mod on it. Huge difference without it. the bang doesn't travel far. On night lamping with a bit of wind its even quieter.

I have the lei mod on my sako and it really isnt that loud at all, pricey but worth it,you only hear a small crack.
