SD card speed rating question

I was just wondering if the speed rating (class 10) of a micro-sd card would be reduced in any way when used in an adaptor card. I plan on using it in a Raspberry Pi.
    Thanks.

    Should be the same.

I think that some class 10 cards might be faster than usb v2.0 interface on PI
especially if you try to push the data from usb to ethernet port.

I bought a usb card reader recently, so I might do some tests when it arrives.

SD max speed (bottom of the page, sort for speed): http://elinux.org/RPi_SD_cards

So you think it may not be capable of operating at the C10 speeds? I reckon I'll be putting XBMC on for a start. Actually can you also put media files on the same card or would you need to be streaming the files from an attached hd?

I mean it much more complicated and without testing a particular configuration it's hard to tell. But if you need it for xbmc you should be OK, because the data will be "consumed" by the hardware decoder.

From my experiments with xbmc you can use almost anything as the source of the media (usb stick, hdd, ethernet, DVB-T tuner).
