Back from the post office and my usual payment of €188 was reduced to €151, anyone have any idea why? Budget cuts?

Any chance you are on BTEA through a JB claim? If so your claim could have expired based on the number of days on the system. Contact your local office and if this is the case they can wind back the claim days. You should also then be repaid for the missed day. Check if your payment was €150.40 if it is then this is most likley what has happened. Contact them soon or you could have no payment next week.

I went on BTEA immediately after being on Jobseeker's Allowance in September, not Jobseeker's Benefit. My payment was indeed around €151.40. What should I ask them on the phone?

Budget cuts should not have affected your BTEA claim as you are currently in the system you payment should remain the same while on btea and for the duration of your btea...of course during summer when not in college you will revert to normal jsa and the rate you were on prior to going on btea but you should get €188 again when you return to college once its still the same college course. You need to phone your local office or call in and ask them why the amount has been reduced.

The budget cuts in rates are only for new people on BTEA

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
