    BBC 2 HD is it?

Sorry - meant to say Astra 2, SR 27500 FEC 2/3. BBC would not be on this mux as it is the RTE one.

No, I do not know. It was encrypted but as I don't have Irish access, I was asking here just in case anyone had seen it.

    which frequency is correct?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 4,285 ✭✭✭Peter Rhea

Only 1 frequency is mentioned here, 10744 mHz (horizontal). Symbol rate of this tp is 22000, 5/6 FEC.

9606 is showing the information box 08, this program is not available, is it testing for one of rte saorview channels. Does any one know what happening?

Could be for the RTÉjr/RTÉ1+1 channels now that RTÉjr programming will be removed from RTÉ2 on April 15th

Are you sure its not DW-TV ?

Yes well that would allow RTE2 to take advertising during the day alright. Perhaps it is for RTE/JR. Makes sense. I dont think the space is there on that TP for another HD channel anyhow (TG4).

Don't particarly know how they could make that work because presumably RTE Jr will be added to the kids section [600's epg], so RTE 1+1 on the same channel won't work unless they have two separate channels. We will probably see RTE Jr alone which will close down at 7pm each night.

It works on Saorview, same shared data stream but different LCNs and PIDs

Oh i'm sure it would work perfectly but where would they position the channel on the sky epg? or would sky let them have two separate epg channels for programming that only takes up a few hours.... time will tell I suppose.

Good to see any Irish channel being added to the Sky Epg, but it would be even better to see RTE News Now take its position in the News section of the Epg.

Yeah hopefully News Now launches as well as all the others RTE had planned.. [RTE Three ..etc]. Hopefully the minister allows a proper 24hr news service to launch with advertising revenue, whatever we say about RTE their News and Current affairs department is second to none especially in Ireland.

They can easily have two different EPG positions for the same stream :

CBBC & BBC3 are actually the same channel, same goes for CBeebies & BBC4.

BBC3+4 show a blue screen all day on the Sky EPG but FTA receivers show CBBC all day on the channel labelled BBC3

. . . Don't RTÉ have to make all their channels available to all platforms??? or have I been reading the Broadcasting Act wrong all this time???

IMO it'd be silly not to have RTÉ1+1 show up too.

RTE News Now would have to be placed in the News section overspill unless it was allocated the BBC News or Parliament positions on the EPG.

While advertising is not allowed it has not got a chance of becoming a proper news channel - at the moment its merely a repeater service for RTE current affairs.

Why can't they show that on Saorview after 7pm? Much nicer than a black screen!

They DO show a similar screen on Saorview - it just has a black background . . .

( you need an MHEG-5 capable TV / receiver to see the screen )
