Just wondering does anyone know how I can recover my windows 8 install product key.

Both windows and the few products that I have tried, are giving me back the media centre addon key instead of the actual install key.

I actually have the original key however the issue is that I have a few keys and I'm not sure which one is spefic to this machine so all I even need is the correct last 5 digits

Was it an in-place upgrade or an OEM preinstall?

Open a cmd as admin and paste this Licensingdiag.exe -report %userprofile%\desktop\report.txt -log %userprofile%\desktop\repfiles.cab you will get 2 files on your desktop the notepad one should have what you are looking for (I think)

That seems to give you only a partial product key - here's the bit from my file run on windows 8 pro just now:

    <ActivePartialProductKey>9KT67</ActivePartialProductKey>

not sure why it should be needed. recoverydrive.exe will backup windows files to a flash drive and includes the licensing afaik
