Weather balloon from Baldonnel?

I work beside Baldonnel (about a half mile away from 23/05), so having a passing interest in aviation, I would have a gawk at goings on there. Last week (Thursday I think) I saw what I first thought what looked like stray kids balloon floating by, maybe a few hundred yards from my viewpoint. Looking again, it looked like a weather balloon being released - seeing it from my view point, and looking how it rose compared to trees, buildings etc in the foreground it looked a lot bigger, with an object suspended underneath. Any ideas?

Well there's a Met Eireann station there. Not sure if there's a still a full time meteorologist but there used to be. So not entirely surprising. In all my years working in the vicinity. I never saw a weather balloon launch.

Baldonnel is fully manned 24/7 but I've never heard of a balloon being released by anywhere other than Valentia (and Castor Bay in the North).

Bet they activated the R15, R16, MOA4 AND MOA5 for it too!
