    Hi,

Could anyone let me know the primary schools in the area of the Royal Canal of Ashtown, Dublin 15, preferably within walking/bus distance, rather than driving

    Thanks,

    Rowena

Your best bet is St John Bosco's Boys National School, or Our Lady Help of Christians Girls National School. Both are located behind the church on the Navan Road.

Both would require driving though I think - there is no way over the canal & railway line, so you have to go around.
It's quite a walk from Royal Canal Park to that spot on the Navan Road. If you're near Ashtown Station then CETNS by train might be an option (get off at Castleknock), that's what our kids did.
Other options walking are in Finglas (St. Finians) or Cabra (St. Catherines/St. Finbarrs) but they're a fair walk too.
Crazy that Rathborne & Royal Canal were allowed without having an easy access to a school in their plans!
EDIT: Just remembered there are plans for a new railway station at pelletstown which will include a bridge allowing access to Ashington. That would make walking to the Navan Rd schools doable, but it might arrive a bit late for you!

When we moved to Dublin, our lad attended Christ The King Boys National School in Cabra for his last year of primary school. You may want to give them a ring and pay them a visit before deciding. It's virtually on the 120 route and easy to get to. (We couldn't get in at St John Bosco's, because there was a long waiting list they said.)
