Anyone here attempt to remove rust from irons before? Face of clubs is fine, some rusty spots have developed on the back in the cavity. I've Googled a bit and one suggestion is soaking the clubs in coke, anyone every try that? Think it would prove difficult for me getting to the affected spots with iron wool, wondering would the power of coke suffice

Be interested to hear the answers to this as I have the same problem.

Anyone know what the (ballpark) price is for replacement shafts?

Coke or Pepsi aren't the worst things to try, scrub with a small wire brush afterwards.

Replacement shafts with grip start around €20 each.

Try giving them a spray with WD40 and scrub with a BRASS brush not steel and the clean off with a cloth. A steel wire brush will scatch the club badly.

    Cheers

Don't think i'm likely to find one of them lying around!

Brass or wire brush I'll try, only difficulty is the spots of rust are in the cavity on the back of the club so not as easy to brush as the face of the club would be. Was hoping simply soaking the clubs would do the trick. Tried rubbing vinegar with an old toothbrush on one earlier but no joy!

Do NOT use a steel wire brush only a brass or copper one. A regular wire brush will destroy the clubs !!!!!

Brass it is so! Thanks for emphasizing this again for my benefit, could have made a critical error! :o

Simples. Sand removes rust. Rust is in cavity. Get into a sandy place, to wit, a bunker. Turn club around so cavity rather than face strikes sand, swing away, no more rust.

Mods: Slightly off topic. Let me know if I should start new thread.

I've just noticed recently that there is a tiny object (don't know what it is, cant figure out how something could possibly get in there) trapped inside my 8i shaft.
It keeps rattling up and down as I swing the club.

I was thinking about doing a bit of diy and increasing the size of the hole on the grip to make it big enough for the object to fall out.
    Any warnings against doing this?

Failing the above DIY job or other suggestions, I'll bring it to someone that can take the grip off.

Other than regripping the club, the one suggestion I was given previously on this was to pour a small amount off glue down through the tee hole at the top of the grip. In theory, Gravity should do its job & the glue & object should stick together at the bottom of the club.

Either that or treat yourself to a new set of clubs (see Secret Purchases Thread ;) )
