Working during a masters

    Hi,
I'm still doing my undergrad but I'm trying to plan my masters.

It's a two year course. I have the funds to pay completely for year one, but not for year two. I am also unable to work during year two at all.

I'm planning on getting a loan to pay my fees for year 2 - I was looking at ulster banks graduate loan (don't have to start paying until finished) but its only for 6000 which wouldn't even cover my fees.

I would have a shortfall of about 7-8000 euro for year two.

I was thinking of working for during year one, I would need to work 20 hours a week (Friday and Saturday nights) which I already work.

It's no problem for me during my undergrad and I plan on getting a first, but I'm assuming it would be a lot more difficult during a masters?

Has anyone here worked during a masters?

Yes and I also have two kids. You'll be fine.

    Silvine,

Do you think it could be managed by working either full or part time udring the week? I'm just wondering how much lectures you have to attend, and if I would have time or headspace to work round it. Thanks!

It can be very specific to different courses to be honest

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
