    Hi,

I hope this is the correct forum, it seemed the most suitable. I have Googled this and found, with the new driving license rules, no definitive answers.

I need a license tomorrow morning for various reasons - is it possible for me to walk into a tax office and get one, assuming I have all relevant forms and certs?

    Thanks a lot

seems to imply it needs to be posted in, which would not be suitable for me currently, unfortunately.

No you can submit the forms, pay the fee, and it's currently taking about a month to get the actual licence.

No is the short answer. The new licences are credit card sized and take longer to produce than the older paper type that could be printed up on site within the tax office.

Now they are sent to the NDLS (new quango) to produce. I got mine in Dublin within 11 working days including the time to post it last week. I am now told that the back logs are clearing a bit quicker now.

    +1

You will not get it straight away, but you will get a receipt to show you have applied for it. Depending on your location you will get it at a different time. Some people have gotten theirs back with the same working week while others had to wait 4 weeks.

Bear in mind we are in the cross over of a new licence issuing system so there's bound to be a few delays here and there.
