    Hello
I'm looking at buying a 2008 diesel ford mondeo. There are quite a few out there. Normally I used to buy from large garages but money very tight now.

I was wondering is there any sure way of checking mileage on a car. I heard or cartel but are they 100% or is there such a thing?

Looking at checking Irish and maybe northern Irish cars

    Any help appreciated

    Many thanks

How does the mileage get updated for cartell to know?

The NCT does NOT share mileage information with any of these vehicle history check companies.

Unlike the situation in the UK, where mileage information is shared by the MoT with the likes of HPI.

The NMR (National Mileage Register) is owned by Cartell.ie, and relies on dealers, owners, etc., voluntarily supplying odometer information to them.

Therefore, in Ireland right now, there is NO official public mileage register.

So how does one verify mileage on a car if the company you pay may have it wrong?

Is there any sure fire way to know?

    Thanks

If you were to phone up nct or knew someone in there could they tell you the mileage?

No data protection legislation would kick in. Some people would keep old NCT printouts, could maybe use them.

The irony is that, for all the talk of UK imports being clocked, you can get trustworthy mileage data on UK stock from the likes of HPI, because odometer readings ARE shared with them by the MoT.
Same goes for inurance companies vehicle history data over there.
