E7 immersion not heating water

    Hello.

As the title suggests, the E7 immersion is not heating the water.
We always switch this on for off peak mode at night and it comes on normally and switches off early in the morning. Then we have hot water for the day.

Last night we followed the same routine however this morning the water was cold. We put the boost on for an hour and still no hot water. The light does come on to indicate that the boost is on.

Do you think that this is an issue with the water tank/ cylinder or with the immersion switch?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks :)

By the sounds of things it's more than likely your immersion heater needs replacing. You will need to get someone out to check it

Might be the heater element, or the other possible problem is the thermostat in the heater head. The thermostat can usually be changed without disturbing the heater, if its the heater element then a parial drain down will be needed in order to change the immersion, which may not be the easiest job in the world, depending on how it was fitted, and the hardness of your water, getting the old heater out without damage to the cylinder can sometimes be problematic, as the walls of the cylinder are so thin.

If the immersion is a dual element type, sink or bath, that may help with the diagnosis, if the stat has failed, then there will be no heating in sink or bath position, if it heats in sink but not bath, then the element has failed. You will almost certainly hear it making noise in sink position if its working, fairly soon after switch on, and there will be a change in temperature at the top of the tank within a few minutes.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

    Thanks for your replies.

I think it's time to ring the landlord.
