Im getting married this year and I'm told that this could mean I pay less tax anyone any idea how this works. Im lucky to be in a good job and a large chunk of my income is taxed at 41% my wife to be works full time but does not earn enough to go into the higher tax bracket... Does anyone know the bext way to reduce our combined tax bill????

Contact your local tax office and they'll give you all the details you need. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. Be happy!

You will get the benefit of the increased standard rate band of approx 9k depending on your wifes income. You don't get any benefit until the end of the year of marriage.

When you get the benefit x no of months married/12. Next year you will get the benefit from the start of the year.

Type into google income tax calculator. Deloitte has a really good one. And it's will tell you the difference it will make.

Also you either you pass away. The spouse gets the assets Capital accusation tax free
