Open the bonnet and smell the engine bay? Does it smell of oil? Is there oil on the left hand side of the engine as you look from the front?

I'm thinking it could be a failed rocker cover gasket, purely guess work, but it happened to mine and you get a string smell of oil coming into the cabin.

Most likely culprit, if it's happening when the heater is blowing, is the heater core. Pain the the bankside of a job.
    Doyour windows fog up easily?

Wipe up the oil and run the car for a while then check again would be my advice.

It's not out of the ordinary for 10 year old cars to accumulate a little bit of oil around the rocker cover especially those straight 6 engines. I can't imagine a few drops of oil to give that bad a smell.
Saying that though, those engines do run hot and overheat very easily leading to warped heads. Keep an eye on the temperature.
