On the radio

There once was a trans woman who wasn't happy with the way a radio show had talked about a fellow (but very famous) trans woman, so she wrote in to complain and was encouraged by the programme's team to come on air. She did, reluctantly. And while she wasn't happy with the way the interview focused too much on personal issues and not on the original topic (how to respectfully refer to trans women and the various types of identities covered by the term 'transgender', of which she had so much in mind to discuss), she was happy that she had played a small part to raise awareness amongst the general public. Just listened

Well done. Ryan is such a twat at times.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Yeah I noticed a lot of ignorance about this story on rte, misogyny in general from a lot of male broadcasters ' well we wouldn't really be bothered with the Irish women's rugby team if the men had won', some Gob****e said that on 'the one show'.

But I think that Lana Wachowski has been great for trans people, probably the most high profile trans person in this digital age, will help to normalise 'us' in the same way that other minorities have been.
