Applying for Graduate jobs before Graduating

Is this possible? I am due to graduate from my course in August, finishing it up in May. So I have recently been looking at some Grad jobs that have interested me. The problem is I don't think I can apply for them. Ideally I would love to apply for them jobs now and hopefully have something sorted by the summer. But am I right in saying that I cant apply until I graduate in August or can I apply to companies saying that I am due to graduate this year?
I'm anxious to find out the answer to this question as I don't know what to do after I finish in May.
    Thanks for any replies :)

Of course you can apply. State on your cv the grade you are expecting.

Yup definitely, if it's specifically a job for a grad they won't be expecting you to start till then anyway!

    I'm applying atm too.

You can apply for them now. In fact you can even begin the job before you graduate once you have completed the course and are available to work. Companies don't really care that much. When I graduated in 2008 I had my interviews completed and signed a contract in January 2008 with a start date of Mid September 2008. Which was fortunate for myself given the economic collapse which occurred in September 2008.

    Thanks lads
Was just not sure as they all have a requirement that says that you have to have a certain degree.

Yes which you will have when you graduate. They may offer a job but will only be on the basis of you graduating.

You're probably a bit late now. I'm graduating this summer too and have finished the process for all but one programme application. All of mine are now closed to applicants.
Some of those applying finished a few years ago but for some employers they won't take candidates who are more than 2/3 years after graduation.

    What's your degree in?

While in your final year especially by the 2nd term is the best time to apply as some application processes can take months. I know from experience.

When in my final year I applied for a job in spring time had interview in the summer. Applied for something else that summer after I finished exams and had my results at that stage and took a month before I got an interview took a few more months before I got a job, had it lined up before I even graduated in autumn but didn't start for another few more months was in winter time so took 5 months from the time I applied to the time I started the job!

Went back to college again and had not much luck on the job front took months before I started getting interviews yet to get something after three years nearly so best to start applying as soon as possible if you wish to have something lined up by the time you graduate! Never too late to apply! When its a grad job they wouldn't expect you to start until the following summer/september at least!

Some jobs might ask for grade/grades but you won't get that till your results so just put down in your CV/application what result you are expecting.

Best of luck with your search!

Yeah you can apply with expected result, include Xmas results if favorable. Friend got in like this, had the job before finishing the course and did worse than his expected results. By then it didn't matter

Most graduate positions would take into account the fact you won't be finishing until May/June of this year.

I applied for IBEC's graduate programme and was interviewed in Feb/March before being accepted in May. Going to interviews while in the middle of final year can be stressful but it's fairly standard now.

    Best of luck OP.
