After much deliberation, I'm re-listing my commuter bike for sale...as much as I love it and it's silly lack of required maintenance, I find myself longing for a geared CX bike so that I can try my hand at some CX later in the year. With 3 of my bikes already clogging up the shed, a fourth is out of the question, so unfortunately this is the only one I can part with right now...

I built this up myself at the end of October last year from mostly new parts, for which I have all the receipts in a little folder. The only re-cycled parts were the saddle, handlebars and stem...

Frame: XL On-One Il Pompino (57cm)
    Forks: On-One Il Pompino
Wheelset: Halo Aerorage (32h/32h) Flip/Flop Hub
    Chainset: Stronglight Track 2000 44t
    Stem: Easton EA30 110mm
    Handlebars: Ritchey Pro-Logic 42cm
    Seatpost: 27.2mm Gravity Gap
    Seapost clamp: Spank Tweet Tweet
    Saddle: Selle Italia SLR Flow
    Brake calipers: Tektro Mini-V's
    Brake levers: Cane Creek SCR5

There are Shimano SPD-SL R540 pedals fitted, I can include these if asking price is met and they are required...

As you can see from the parts used, it was built with longevity in mind, and should be bombproof for the foreseeable future. I've put almost 2000 trouble free kilometers on it since November. I recently put brand new brake pads, inner and outer brake cables, bartape and a 16t freeweel on it. I also have a spare cheapo 16t freewheel, and 16t and 18t track sprockets and lockrings, should you wish to run it fixed.

It is is a very versatile bike. It has horizontal 120mm track dropouts, with clearance for 35mm cyclocross tyres. It has eyelets for mudguards and a rear rack, and bosses for two bottle cages. It has a few other nice finishing touches like a hanger on the seatstay for the chain when changing wheels, and a pump holder for a top tube mounted pump. I enjoyed every minute on it and will be sad to see it go. If only there was a way to put a 10 speed derailleur on the back it would be a fantastic 1x10 speed CX bike and I'd be delighted to hang onto it, but unfortunately because of the track dropouts this isn't an option.

I would hope to get €600 for it, I have receipts totalling to ~€900 from last October/November, and documented the build from start to finish here. I would consider doing a deal for a suitable 10 speed CX bike, with eyelets for mudguards, I wouldn't need wheels as I have enough of them already  I am not in any rush to sell with the CX season not starting for another 7/8 months, and happy enough to hold on til I get the right offer.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me.

EDIT: Can deliver within reason if asking is met

Hi there, just read your blog of your build. Well done, its a pity its not a large frame as then i would snap it up off your hands! Alas its not! I've deicded to build up a similar bike, but with fixed gear (am getting a flip flop hub though just in case!). Oh and by the way, really enjoyed your blog. Best of luck with your sale and hope you get a buyer.

Haha I'd take you up on that offer if you were planning to ride the A3 race ;)

Would rather do a deal for a CX bike or sell it all as one piece to be honest, what would you be looking to take if I did split it?

Anyone out there with a 57/58cm CX bike (with eyelets for mudguards) they want to swap for a nice singlespeed road/cross bike? :D

    Alternatively, any takers at €550?

EDIT: MIGHT consider splitting, as long as the expensive bits are spoken for first....

Wheelset, freewheels, track sprockets and lockrings: €150 (can throw in an old pair of michelin pro race tyres and tubes)
Frame, forks, headset, bottom bracket (JIS 107mm square taper) and seatpost clamp: €250
    Stronglight Track 2000 chainset: €50

Having finally gotten around to pulling out all my receipts and totting up the costs of building this bike back in October, it turns out it was actually less expensive than I thought (going off CURRENT new prices, On-One Pompino frames and forks have shot up in price!!)

Taking this into account, I would be willing to drop to an absolute minimum of €400 for the whole bike, including the spare track cogs, lock rings and freewheel. As before, I would potentially be interested in doing a deal for a geared cross bike if that was an option.

This is essentially the last call before the bike will be stripped apart and put in the attic til I have the room to house more bikes, in order to make room for a geared cross bike in my parents shed.

EDIT: Just to point out, in order to keep the mods happy, this has been removed from other sites, ye lot are nicer to deal with :P

Do not sell this its too nice. If you really want a geared cx bike buy an internal geared hub wheel. I had to run the last lap in swords because my derailleur clogged up so bad. A club mate ripped off his derailleur warming up in the mud section in Punchestown.

I would spend two hours after every race striping down and cleaning my bike thoroughly. Your bike would be much less maintenance.

Also with less things for mud to build up on this bike will be just as light as many that are caked in mud halfway through the race.

Also this way you still have a great winter/commuter bike.

    Ross

    Thanks Ross!

I don't think it's possible to get 120mm wide rear hubs with internal gears unfortunately.

At this stage I'm as well to hang on to it as I'm not interested in dropping it any lower than €400 for the sake of making a bit of space in my shed.

    Sram P5? :)

Sorry, thought I'd replied to you, can't find much info out there about them, not sure I want to go down that route anyway :o

I'll leave this ad lingering on here anyway, but there's a chance it may be broken down and stowed away in the attic over the coming months....it hasn't been used at all really since the open racing kicked off in Feb, only for a 2 hour spin the weekend the IRC GP was cancelled due to snow.

I would consider doing some sort of deal for a set of fancy clinchers for racing on, or will swap for 40000 European cents.
