BA / Aer Lingus via LHR - reserving seats Aer Lingus segment

I am flying into LHR soon and connecting to a BA flight, connection time is only 1:40 so a bit tight.

I would like to book seats near the front of the Aer Lingus flight so i am off the plane fast, but when I login to ba it only says I can reserve seats 24 hrs before the flight, does anybody have any idea how I can reserve seats near the front?

    You could try here: https://www.aerlingus.com/cgi-bin/obel01im1/bookonline/retrieveNonOBEPNRToChange.do?option=seatSelection

It's worked for me for trips booked via BA before. Although, if you're connecting the back may be better (as I beleive Aer Lingus pull the connecting flights bus to the back stairs. They certainly did up to end of last year).

    That link is not working!

Are you also saying that there is a bus that connects from each plane in T1 to T5 now?

I thought you would walk through T1 to a communal bus collection point?

I've found it on the Aer Lingus site, theres another link for flights not booked directly with Aer Lingus, I can book 2 front row seats for €10 each but might the bus arrive at the back of the plane?

There are dedicated flight connections buses at Heathrow that meet the flights, bring you to the Flight Connections Centre where you then get on a bus which brings you to T5. This means you don't have to enter T1 as such at all.

Up to late last year Aer Lingus were having connecting passengers exit by the rear to board these. I assume it is still the same but someone with more recent experience might confirm. If it is still the case then sitting at the rear might be a better option.

<edit>You could call Aer Lingus and ask them if this is still the case also </edit>
