I'm also looking to end/claim back my tax back,
So if I fill out the 12A Form, will that solve both my problems? Or at least set the gears in motion?

Also, I handed in my P45 when I started my current job, should I have been emergency taxed at all?

If you handed in your P45 at the start of your employment, then emergency tax should not have been deducted as the employer should have known what tax credits you were claiming.

Go back to Revenue and ask for a form 12A. Complete that. Revenue will then send you a new tax cert.

I'm not sure if emergency tax is repaid straight away or if you have to wait until the new FY. Your best bet is to call Revenue and ask.
