Did I get an 'ok' deal on this second hand bike?

Probably not very smart to ask this after I've already bought the bike but..

I bought a second hand Giant A3 Escape R2 with disc brakes from my local bike shop. It was in fairly decent shape, took it for a spin and checked the gears and brakes, and any problems I can bring it in within the next few months.

It was advertised at €375, I got him to throw in a €55 U-lock with cable, so I guess you could say I paid €320 for the bike.

Hard to even find what it would have cost new and couldn't find any for sale online so I just went with it and didn't think of posting here to check first!

Anybody here have any experience with locking bike around Stephens Green area? I am an RCSI student and they have a gated bike rack area but the door never seems to be closed so I don't know how much use that is. My last bike got stolen the first time I ever cycled into town so I want to be as careful as possible this time round!

    Hi Hollingr,

best place to lock your bike near RCSI would be the Drury street car park - http://www.dublincycling.ie/node/439 - free and secure.

I did see that place! Fairly close too. Would it ever get overfilled during rush hour or anything like that?

Isn't there a RCSI car park down the little lane between RCSI and The Fitzwilliam Hotel?
    This little lane...

If the RSCI one isn't secure, I'm sure you could lock up up in the Ftizwilliam one and nobody would care, it has cameras as well so should be pretty secure.

I've always been able to get a place myself no problem.

Always seems to be half empty when I'm there no matter what hour of the day. Very handy place to lock the bike, I always put it there no matter where I go, even if I'm going into Stephen's Green.

I use it a few times a weeek as do many I know, no problems getting a space.

Have used Drury street bike park a few times recently which is great. Lovely little cafe has opened up right by the entrance which does proper good coffee too
