    Hi All

Can anyone tell me how does a painter price a job and what is the average price per day or meter?

Hopefully someone here will have the answer!

    Thanks

Pick a number, double it, add 40% for unforseen extras, an extra €87 for nothing else, then multiply by 1.55789.

I'm not being smart Greenbaize, I'm actually at the same myself, and have been given ball park figures of €4k to €5k for approx 700m2 area of internal walls & ceilings painted white, I have no idea how this figure was arrived at.
Another option I've been given is a day rate of €80-€100 if I supply materials.

Does this come with public liability insurance and tax compliance cert? Ie cash or cheque?

€€€€€€€ Money in the hand, so as the Rev'nooo no nothin. No insurance, no guarantee, no compliance.
I would say sign o' the times, but it's nothing new, has happened before and will continue to do so.

It's done by calculating the square meters and estimating how long it will take to paint, factoring in how quick you need it done and how many people will be working on the job. If you can buy the paint yourself as it eliminates any possible additional extras and make sure your going with a decent contractor, as with any business there are cowboys but I'm surprised the recession hasn't weeded them out. 80-100 euro a day sounds about right but just be cautious and get a solid time estimation at the beginning as some guys can see a day rate as an excuse to take their time.

If you want the number of a good painter PM me.

They both sound like ridiculous prices, one way too expensive, one way too cheap.
Hard to imagine 700m2 of walls and ceiling but if you broke it down to 14 big rooms of 50m2 each room. That shouldn't take a painter more than 7 days max 10 even if there's carpet and furniture to be kept clean, 2 big rooms a day, just walls and ceiling.. All white, even if you needed a 10l for each room paint and filler etc shouldn't cost more than €1000, so for a painter to be charging €3000 - €4000 for labour for 7-10days. ?????
Then your flipside, a painter to work for. €80-€100 a day, times are bad but a tradesman who spent 4 years to learn his trade working for €80 a day, not insured, not legal, most likely not really a painter..
If you need a number for a few qualified painters who'll give a competitive and fair price let me know and I'll pm with some details

Totally agree with this. Finished ceiling and undercoat on internal walls all white roughly 1100metersq is taking 10-12 days at €100/day. 700metersq, for that money I will take a weeks holidays from work and do it for you:rolleyes:.

€350 estimated cost of good quality paint to paint 700m2, 100m2 from 10litres one coat . 14x10litres .
If it's cash job I would say around €1000 labour + paint
If u need invoice from legit insured painter quote of €3000 sounds right as goin rate for 1m2 is €4-€6 depending on requested brand of paint.
Just to explain it u can get three 10 liters buckets of dulux for €70 and u need to pay €85 for one 10litres bucket of colortrend which is the best paint on the market in my opinion.
    Hope that helps

What is the standard price a painter would charge per square meter? I heard €3-€4 would this be right? And is that charge just for labour or does it include the price of paint? Also how much extra would a painter charge if he had 2 other workers with him? would their day rate be added on top of the price?
