Hi, im extremely new to this. I want to control two motors through 1 joystick that a took off a ps3 controller. But im lost on how to connect the battery to the joystick to both motors :(. Do i need some sort of circuit board or can i divert that? As i said, im hopelessly lost and need some help on this.
Looked around and saw this breakout board, which i think might help, but still unsure

If the PS3 one is the same as the PS2 one then they are basically two potentiometers, when in the centre both will put out half of the supplied voltage. Assuming the joystick can handle the current this would mean you could hook the motor to the output and have it run at half speed while idling and ranging from stopped at one extreme to full speed at the other.

Most like the middle pins on each set of three, the others are for the push button

i guessed the outer ones were for the push button, that helps a lot. Thanks!:D

Are you using the joystick just to control the speed of the motors, or
do you want to move the motors backwards and forwards. ie not moving when the joystick is centered.?

the joystick was to move the motors backwards and forwards. I've picked up an arduino from a teacher of mine and hes going to help out on whatever im unsure on. Theres hope at the end of this increasingly frustrating project

The output of the joystick can be connected to one of the analogue pins on the arduino and then you will have a H bridge driver controlling the motor
