Got a tv lately and there is no scart connection on it for my DVD player.

Anyone know where to get a scart to hdmi cable.

Have found a DVI to hdmi, don't think it will work.

A decent new DVD player with HDMI will be cheaper than a SCART to HDMI converter unit, ridiculous as that may seem.

You'll get a high quality branded DVD player for cheaper than that these days, zero point in purchasing a converter.

That said though the TV would most likely be fine with composite, so something like this would also fit the bill.

Get a blue ray player, there cheap enough these days. Or the yellow red and white leads would be a cheaper option than scary to hdmi

Component gives a superb picture off DVD so I'd aim for that, otherwise buy a new DVD or Blu-Ray player and go with HDMI.

Only 1 required between box and TV, HDMI is the newer standard capable of carrying an HD signal.

SCART is a totally analogue connection system. It can only carry Red/Green/Blue, or S-Video, or Composite video; and stereo sound. None of these are capable of delivering High Definition pictures or surround sound.
SCART cannot carry "Component video", which is also analogue; and it cannot carry any digital information at all. It can carry simple device control signals.

HDMI is a completely digital connection system. It is capable of carrying High Definition video in all three of the HD standards (720p/1080i/1080p) and full surround sound. It also carries complex device control signals and copyright information.

You will be able to connect your laptop ect to your tv ect with a converter box which decodes the analoge signal to digital and vica versa. This kind of converter around 50 euros. I doubt it worth it.
