Quick NCT question

The NCT on a car expired in May 2012. If the car were to go through the NCT tomorrow how long would the new NCT be valid for? Would it be valid for a year from the last NCT (ie. until May 2013) or would it be valid for a year from the date it was tested?

Always runs out at anniversary of original registration so May 13 it would run out if the car is over 10 years old. If you book within 3 months of the anniversary date, in march for example, you are in effect booking for the year after and will get a 15 montth test to may 14

Right, better wait a month or so and book it in then. Forgot to mention the car is over 10 years old in the OP, thanks for the response.

You can easily book it now.
It's 3 months before due date. 3 months from today is 21 May. (is the due date after 21st May?) If it isn't then you can test your car even tomorrow and get a test valid until May 2014.

Almost certain it's before the 21st of May, will have to check tomorrow. So if it is I'll be able to book it in for next week and it'll get a valid NCT for a year (or ~14 months in this case)?
