I can't decide between the two.

Im starting college in sept and need a laptop that will last me four years. The last four years ive had to change my laptop every two years. Had a dell and a toshiba and they just didnt last. Battery, hard drive problems, the lot and maybe even a few viruses thrown in.

Im looking at a mac because everyone says that they last longer. What do you think?

Anyway choice between the HP Envy m6-1178sa and Macbook pro MD 101/ba

    Spec for HP:

    Processor
    Intel® Core™ i5-3210M (2.5 GHz (up to 3.1 GHz with TurboBoost), 3 MB L3 Cache)
    General Information
    RAM
    8 GB (2 x 4 GB)
    Graphics card
2 GB DDR3 dedicated AMD Radeon HD 7670M

    Spec for Mac:

    Configuration
    Processor
Dual-core Intel Core i5 processor (2.5GHz (Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz) with 3MB L3 cache
    General Information
    RAM
    4GB of 1600MHz DDR3 memory
    Graphics card
    Intel HD Graphics 4000
    FireWire
FireWire 800 port (up to 800 Mbps)
    USB
    2 x USB 3.0

    Thanks for your help

Simple question: what do you want? Windows or Mac OSX?

As for Macs "lasting longer", a Macbook is a just as quickly outdated as any Windows laptop with comparable specs.

Macs being immune to viruses is a myth (Bloomberg ran this story today).

If your Macbook is in need of repair, you will also have to pay premium prices (Apple repair fees and part prices are an outrageous rip off).

    Buy the m6

    with Microsoft Office University 365

with a 3 year accidental and service plan

and you will still work out cheaper than a MacBook.

    With the twice the RAM

and a huge leap in graphics power
