eBay have announced 400+ jobs in Dundalk

I've just been called for an interview - so I was wondering has anyone been called too??

Looking for tips for the interview process, anyone know what the usually ask? I'm useless in an interview scenario, I panic!

What is eBay like to work for?
    What's the shifts like?
    What's the pay like?

I would be going for the new Customer Care roles.

    Any help or tips appreciated.

Hi, where are these jobs listed? When I click on the jobs link on ebay.ie the page gives an "error 404 file or directory not found" message.

<EDIT> After doing a search elsewhere found them here: http://jobs.ebaycareers.com/ie/dundalk-jobs

The only customer care role I can find requires a minimum 1 year's call centre experience.

    Applied via the same website

I don't have call centre experience but I have had a few years experience dealing with customers and they must be accepting that as I've already had a telephone screening interview where they asked me what I've done in the past and how my previous experience dealing with customers and their problems would benefit me in the role...

    So well worth a try d@rk l0rd...

So, no replies on what eBay is like to work for...... Or what interview questions are like ????

Interesting. I have many years experience dealing with customers, just not in a call centre capacity. I guess nothing to lose by applying. Worst they can do is bin my CV.
I have no idea what they are like to work for or what the interview questions are like, sorry. :(

And what happened? Did you hear back from them? Interview?

I applied for the eBay job there today.
Really want it, so fingers crossed! :D

Anybody know about the recruitment process in eBay?

I got a generic email when I applied online and then another couple months afterwards.

Then 2 weeks ago Ebay rang me and wanted to see was I still interested in the jobs? When I said I was they sent me an email with job description and organised to contact me later on in the week for a Telephone Screening call.

I done this Telephone Screening call, lasted about 20 mins and then I got another call for an interview.

Does anyone know what the interview process is like?

I got a call from eBay a week before they announced the 400 + jobs in Dundalk. They asked would I still be interested in a job(if they had positions opening), they got my CV on PayPal database.

An Interview date and time had been arranged but they didn't ring me :(. I rang later that evening and got voice-mail- so left a message.

Still haven't heard anything but I applied for the advertised job. Should I ring them?? or hope they ring me back based on my application?

I applied last Wednesday and still haven't heard from them.
And judging from the posts above, it seems like they ain't in a hurry with recruiting. Although I think I remember reading a couple of weeks ago that the new centre wasn't due to start operating until another couple of months. So they're probably in no rush.

    You can apply here: http://rfer.us/EBR8YpYiA

Lots of different roles at both eBay and Paypal. No harm getting your application in :)

    I'm in the same boat.
Applied a few weeks ago and not a word from them.
Would love to know if they just haven't started recruiting yet, or I'm not being considered for the job or whatever.
I really want the job though - it ticks a lot of boxes.

Can anyone give any insight into what's going on?

Has anyone who applied to ebay had any word back from them? I applied a few days ago but a guy I work with applied 3 months ago and still hasn't heard back!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 398 ✭✭d@rk l0rd

Nope, never heard a thing back from them, applied months ago. Complete waste of time!

As I said I had the phone interview - just asking general questions on my experience and what I read in the email they sent and then they rang back to arrange interview. I missed the call and tried to email and call back but to date I haven't heard anything back.

I know they opened in Dundalk with new recruits but has anyone else heard anything back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 Celticghirl

I never heard back, neither did any of my colleagues who applied. I did hear that they are only hiring through current employee recommendation which is a bit weird but would explain why very few people ever get a phonecall!

Don't suppose anyone knows any current employees?

I applied for the Customer Service (night shifts) position week ago. First I had a telephone conversation with HR last Friday and was told that in a few days will be invited for a job interview. has anyone else had applied for it and was invited for an interview?

I'd be interested to know what the initial telephone interview comprised of? What were you asked? How long did the interview take? Thanks in advance :)

Had an interview yesterday morning for this. I taught it went quite well have to say there actually quite a layed back company when comes to the whole thing they dont put u under pressure like some would.

Theres ALOT going for the 100 odd positions they have so be doing well to get there in the end.

It was split into 3 parts background check assignment then one on one interview.

Should know by Tuesday at the latest whats going on anyway.

Best of luck to anyone else here who went for it they seem an amazing company to work for now even more so considering what else is on offer out there now you be set for life if u got comfortable in a place like PayPal.

Experience tells me this comment is very naive.

Best of luck to everyone who has applied for roles there.

    Go on.....

I've worked for a number of multi national companies similar to PayPal through the years and can advise you that while they are good (sometimes great) places to work, I would never consider anyone who is employed by them as 'set for life'.

I know its just one of those phrases. Compared to what i have come across over last year or so its a good job with a lot of prospects and pluses.

A relative of mine got a job with Paypal in Dundalk a year ago, it was a nightmare to commute to from Dublin but she then applied for a job with E-bay (sister company) in Blanchardstown. She was very lucky and got the job. She says they are a great company to work for, lots of perks - VHI, good social scene, xmas party and trips overseas when in Fraud Dept. Good luck to anyone applying :)
