Does anyone know how long you should be off the pill before TTC or how long after stopping taking the pill will it take for your body to return to 'normal'?

See this ^^ is why we have the saying "doctors differ and patients die"!

My GP told me that you're likely to be hyper fertile after stopping the Pill and that you could become pregnant very quickly.
As a result since I've come off the Pill at the end of December I've been terribly impatient to get a BFP!:)

OP I think every person is different. Read the TTC thread on this forum, its been very insightful, helpful and educational (i.e. teaching me all about the joys of CM and knicker watch) at times:eek:.

I meant 6 months before your cycle returns to normal - you can start to TTC as soon as you stop.

Course you can! Didn't mean to contradict you Stickybean. My post was more to show how the information you receive can vary so much!

It varies from person to person.
My cycle went back to normal straight away after 10 years on the pill. I have friends for whom it took months to get a period. There is no way of telling, it depends on the person.

I'm not TTC, but I took my last pill at the end of May 2012 and my cycles are still very irregular. Prior to starting the pill, I was regular as clockwork and had been for years. Frustrating. I waited seven months and then went to my GP, who is running tests.

I've been really lucky that after 7/8 years on the pill my cycles came back really quickly (26 day cycles) but for friends of mine have been off for months and their cycles are still all over the place. everyone is different.

    Hi,
I have been on various types of birth control for the past ten years (depo, pill, evra patch) My last depo was up in october. my husband and i are ttc. i have done lots of Ovulation Predictor tests, all showing a negative result, my cycle was only lasting 16 days until this month ,tomorrow is day 28 and still no period. Anybody got any advice or comments?
