hi, just drove a 2003 toyota corolla, 1.4 petrol saloon and found the clutch really hard to use, you really had to step on it when changing gears, just wondering does anyone know if they are all like this or was i just unlucky with that particular car?

No there should be a nice light clutch in them. If it feels heavy it's probably worn.

the gears didnt change smoothly either, felt like a chore to drive, hope they all arent like that or ill have to go for a different make, assumed the corolla would be a pleasure to drive?

No as I said they should have a nice light clutch, if it's not worn.
