Sorry for the short notice (this Friday - the 22nd of Feb) with this but I need all the publicity I can get and it would be great if people from the forum could make it over.

    Hi all,

On the 16th of March I will be going to Panama with the charity organisation Global Brigades (DCU Chapter) to help out in rural communities. I will give details of the work we will be doing below. In order to volunteer, we each have to raise a large sum of money which includes a charitable donation to the local schools and area.

To meet my goal I am running a series of fundraiser events, one being a marathon BJJ rolling session held in SBG on the Longmile road. It will take place on Friday the 22nd of February from 10am to 10pm. The event will consist of me staying in the gym for the duration of the event, and I ask people to come down and join me to roll with me and other people. You can stay for as long as you want, and the longer the better so we can try get a lot of rolls in with different people. All I ask is that you make a charitable donation to my cause upon coming down to do it (maybe around €10 if people have it! But there is no worry if you can't bring that much). I would really appreciate any donation and help on the day! I really hope to make this day a success!

You don't have to just roll if you come down aswell, there will be some very experienced guys there for a lot of the day, so if there's any beginners that want to come down and roll, but also learn a thing or two it would be great, it will be a friendly environment.

    Volunteer Activity Description:
"Human Rights Brigades volunteers work with Panamanian lawyers to provide pro-bono legal consulting through a 7 day brigade in Panama. Human Rights Brigades provides services to remote communities, on a family by family basis. By focusing on the families of one community at a time, volunteers can not only shadow and assist lawyers as they provide legal consulting to community members, but also take an active role in providing legal assistance on a personalized scale. Human Rights Brigades primarily works with remote communities that are under resourced and largely unaware of their legal rights.Volunteers lead legal education workshops tailored to the community on various topics such as: the land titling process, government institutions, family law, property rights, business rights, conflict resolution, etc. Student are able to put their legal research to practice and shadow lawyers in developing solutions to various legal problems.
