Have done that route a few times. Really nice cycling with fantastic sea views pretty much the whole way along....would be signing up if I was in the country. Good luck

I just signed up! had my bike a month so signed up for the 60km rather than the longer one. I take it all
The serious boys and girls are doing the 112km. Is there still a good standard in the 60km? I've been putting in the miles so Id like to try and put in a good time if there is some Good people doing the 60km that I could join on the road

Appreciate it is for charity but €45 registration is a real turn-off in the current climate. I speak as someone who would have done more than a dozen spotives in a year but am having to watch the wallet now.

Wish you the best of luck and I do appreciate the cause is very worthy.

As far as I know both groups are being let off at the same time. The only major difference between the two is the return leg.
See you out there next week

Do you get a number on the day? I'd say I signed up a bit late for a pack in the post

Doing the 112km loop for my maiden sportive, furthest I've done so far is 87km so hopefully it's in the legs! What's the weather forecast for Sunday?

I did the 112km. Super route with about 1000m of climbing but some of the inclines were real beasts - quite short but fairly steep. Wind was a real factor - biggish easterly - felt like it was helping about 10% of the time and really not helping at all at all for the rest. Standout feature for me was the outstanding marshalling - I know the roads pretty well anyway but obviously lots of people didn't and there was simply no way to get lost - there were loads of signs and people at every turn (and there were many many turns) - i dont think i've ever seen as many volunteers at any sportive before. Great organisation and chapeau to all involved. Absolutely shagged at the end - shouldn't be that bad for 112km - but I fell into a comfortably content armchair snooze as soon as I got home - made it all worth it!

+1 couldn't keep my eyes open long enough to watch the last stage of Volta last night
Ill pass the feedback on to the organisers too

Really enjoyed it myself, I've nothing to compare it against but the marshals were great and it was brilliant to get a Garda escort back along the Fota road after the ferry. Did the 112k too, the hill back up to Saleen at the end was a killer, but loved it!
