I used a turbo trainer for training during the week. The problem is its wearing my back tyre. This is a new tyre i got. There was powder of rubber on turbo trainer after a 20km workout. I had the resistance up to the last for at least 5km. I had to stop at one stage because i could smell rubber burning. Anyway im not so skilled in taking off wheel and attaching another one and changing cassette to different one and chain. Just wondering do turbo trainers destroy the rubber completely? I only have done 20km on trainer with this new tyre. Would alot of tyre be worn at 20km?

    Suggestions?

    Yeah they eat up tyres.
You can buy turbo specific training tyres in your local bike shop.

How badly worn would a new tyre with 20km on turbo trainer be? Would there be much wear at that?
