    Hi Folks

Just looking for some reputable HPI check UK websites to use in the coming weeks as I'm planning to import a car. I've seen a few of them online and wouldn't know the best ones.

    Any advise?

I think the AA/RAC include an HPI check with their inspections too.

Is there any point using this when buying a car from a dealer?

I understand when buying more expensive car privately doing hpi check is a must. But what about buying from a dealer?

I've used this http://nationalvehicleinspections.com/ to inspected the car and do the HPI check cheaper than the RAC. He's inspecting the car on Saturday. i'll get the verbal report back after the inspection and written report that evening. i'll report back saturday i'm buying from a garage but I would still check

Most definitely! Above all, NEVER trust what a dealer tells you! :)

My brother bought a car from a dealer many years ago. Didn't get it checked by my uncle who is a mechanic. He didn't bother with an AA check either. Car turned out to be a cut 'n' shut which of course should never have been on the road. Had to take the dealer to Trading Standards and court to get his money back.

    Even if it's reputable dealer.
F.e franchised main Toyota dealer selling secondhand toyota? Is it still worth paying for HPI check?

Or car supermarket f.e. like CarGiant which is praised over here? Does buying in such places still require doing HPI checks?

Like I say. I don't trust ANYTHING a dealer says. I don't know anything about cars, but I DO know a thing or two about salesmen and the methods they employ!

Caveat Emptor when buying second hand. I've bought cars from Ford and Vauxhall dealers in London and still paid for an RAC check and HPI too. I'd rather spend a couple of hundred quid making sure that the car is not a lemon or stolen or has finance on it, then to be stung for thousands of pounds. A dealer may not necessarily make through checks.

It'd be foolish not to get a data check done.

p.s. Car Giant do one for you I think.

That's exactly why I'm asking if it makes any sense to do one yourself and pay for it extra?

If it's already done there's no benefit.

Not true.If you're doing a HPI check on a car in the UK,you have to pay for your own report for the guarantee that I mentioned above to cover you.
