    Hi folks,

Having an issue on my Laptop, hoping someone may be able to help. It is a Toshiba L630, Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit. I have it 2 years and until recently never had an issue. Today my internet browsers are not responding. I have IE10 and Firefox. IE opens to blank and as soon as i try an access a site i get "not responding", firefox is the same, homepage opens but once i select another site "not responding". By opening task manager i can end task and close IE but it will not close Firefox. I then tried to restart my laptop. It logged off my profile then had the screen with the shutting down message, that remained there for almost 2 hrs before i removed the battery. Started up and retried several times and the same issue each time!! Even restarted in safe mode and shut down in safe mode (which actually worked) but once i restarted in normal mode back to the same as before.

I have McAfee installed, no virus detected, ran scans etc. I can access all other functions but both browsers hang immediately once i try to access a website, have tried numerous different sites also. Laptop is detecting the wireless and it is connected and has internet access etc.

So in summary both IE and Firefox not repsponding and laptop will not shut down. Can anybody help??

mcafee is terrible av software... it rates poorer than most of the free av's do.

anyways could your av software be the cause? try disabling mcafee and then open your browser.

also try disabling yor firewall to see if that is the cause.

if you want a better av use avast (free), or nod32, (costs money)

Thanks Freddy! Turns out it was McAfee! Uninstalled it and back to normal
