EU pesticides directive?

    Hi fellas,

I am trying to find information online about the EU pesticides directive, I can't find any information in Ireland, when I contacted various agencies last year they still hadn't got up to speed on it.

I want to do certification so I am fully up to speed but no one seems to know what is happening yet and the deadline is getting closer.

I could go to the other side of the country and do it and it would end up costing over €1000 including accommodation and travelling or probably go to the UK and it would cost about the same but I would really like a course vaguely in the west and a properly acredited course, no one seems to know yet what the Government are going to want, perhaps the Government don't even know themselves yet!

Hope you guys might have some suggestions.

    M.

Are you looking for certification to issue the use of agro chemicals? Like the IASIS course? Contact IASIS for the info

I don't think so, it is for professional application of herbicides to domestic and commercial customers. I should have said I am a professional gardener.

    Hope this makes it clearer.

To the best of my knowledge there is no course for persons applying the products like the UK have yet, but best thing to do is contact Teagasc and enquire do they run a course in spraying, i think they do in Kildalton

    Hi Conflats,

That is my problem, the directive is coming in but no one really has set anything up here yet.

There is an NPTC course in Portlaiose but it is a long way for me to go and I would have to stay away from home for about 5 nights!

Teagasc at the end of last year didn't even know what they were going to do.

Well the chances are then it will come in and nothing will happen because we arent ready best thing to do is wait till you hear of concrete need for it

Plus big reason why the courses are in the eastern half of the country and not to cause offence to anyone but the major tillage area is this side and its the main sector which applies agrochemicals, ok golf courses and landscapers too
