I got a bottom back tooth amalgam filling replaced today. When I bite straight down there is no pain. If when im chewing or speaking and my bottom and top tooth touch at any tpye of angle off straight there is a really really bad sharp pain. The top tooth also has a filling, I think its when both fillings touch. What should I do...

    Thanks for any advice

sounds like galvanic pain, where a small electrical current is produced when the two metals rub off each other, similar to biting tin foil. it should wear off after a while, if not, go back to your dentist.

Interesting, when hastily eating a chocolate bar yesterday, I inadvertently put some silver foil in my mouth where it made contact with an amalgam filling. Ouch! its like an electric shock feeling...I haven't done that in years.

Nearly 24 hours later, I was still getting a bit of the same feeling in the tooth, but now its gone.
