Intermittent low oil warning

Our 2010 Renault Megane MKIII has been giving an intermittent low oil warning. Dip stick level seems fine, happens randomly wether car parked on incline or not. No puddles of oil under the car when it's moved. No clouds of smoke from exhaust. Its about 4 or 5 thousand km off its next service (last one was sept 2012) Any idea what it could be?

It was in a dealership a few weeks ago as the cruise control seemed possessed. Turned out the multiplexer needed to be wiped and reprogrammed or something like that! Mentioned to them about the oil warning, they topped up the oil.....

Did the dealer tell you how much oil needed to be put in?

Nope. As I was in work it was the OH that got it looked at.

Hi, If the oil level is ok (between the marks) and the oil filter change is recent, which seems to be the case it is probably an oil sensor/sender fault. You could check the connections there or ask someone who knows about cars.
