I am looking to rent a van for 3 weeks to a month to move from Ireland to England. Does anyone know any companies which allow you to rent a van here and then leave it in England (at one of their locations). The reason I need it for a month is because I am a carpenter so will be using it initially for work until I source my own over there. I am trying to figure out the best possible option that involves the least amount of trips back and forth for myself.

If no one has experience with the above... who would people recommend for cheap van rental that allow over sea's use?

    Thanks in advance,
    Steven.

(this is a copy of a thread I have in home and accommodation, not sure what section is best for it)

You will be absolutely crucified for a one way rental like that if they even allow it at all.

Try the well known multinational companies, hertz, enterprise etc.

Can't recommend any companies, but have you considered buying a UK reg van here and just bringing it back over? Once you have your UK address it shouldn't be too much hassle.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

I didn't even think of that, I cant imagine them being too easy to come by, but will of course have a look!

Belfast is only an hour or so away from Dublin, check Gumtree/Ebay/Autotrader etc. buy a van in NI once you know your English address, and use that for the move, cheapest way IMO.

Any ni van would work out if you are going to buy a van anyway

Just had a quick look on donedeal, there actually seems to be a good few UK reg vans for sale in the south, also nothing stopping you from buying in the north.

Thanks, will have a look. That would be the best option for me if I can find the suitable van! :)
