Getting into fishing

    Hi there,we have just bought a mobile home in dunmore east for the summer.
    I have always wanted to get into fishing.Whats the fishing like in dunmore east and when is the best time to start fishing.What kinda gear do i need rods, bait ect.
    All advice is weclome

    To be honest havnt a clue ,i was thinking fishing of the rocks for some mackrel
    I need to go and buy a rod first so what do u thinks :confused:

    you'll need a fairly strong rod, cheap ones can be fairly heavy but no point getting an expensive one starting out just in case u don't take to it, try donedeal and the likes for second hand one

    It all depends on how much you want to spend really but I'd say something like this wouldn't be too bad to start with. There's a guide here and though it's for the West coast, there's some good info in it.

    There is good spots around dunmore, you can fish off the end of the harbour which is handy, then there is the flat rocks just past the harbour. you could get a rod and reel combo for 60-80 quid in O'briens angling and outdoor shop on the cork road or the outdoor shop on the quay, you can buy bait in o briens or dig bait yourself, there is a fishing shop down in the harbour that sell mackerel feathers and weights,
