Have you any filtering software on your computer? What DNS servers are you using? Try manually specifying the google DNS addresses: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using

what isp have you got? eircom's dns servers often get hit by ddos attacks

    i use google's dns servers

    primary dns server = 8.8.8.8
    secondary dns server = 8.8.4.4

    to change your dns settings

    open your network properties:

Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Network and Sharing Center

    then choose "change adapater settings"

then highlight your network connection and right click then choose properties

then highlight the internet protocol ending with (tcp/ipv4) and choose properties

then under dns server address choose to enter them manually

    enter these numbers

    preferred dns server = 8.8.8.8
    alternate dns server = 8.8.4.4

apply and restart your network connection
