Wall Murals

Hi, I'd love to hear peoples opinions on wall murals. I already know where to buy from but I'm just unsure as wether I'd still like it a couple of months later. I've seen some brilliant murals but never lived with one if you know what I mean.
We've a bare wall in the back room of our house which is basically part of our kitchen. I've had a suede textured paint on it the last few years which I liked but am now looking for something different and I know murals are becoming very popular now. If anyone has one or has an opinion on them please let me know, here's a couple of images for the type of mural I was contemplating.
The wall is nearly 8m squared so you can imagine it would be quite breathtaking, I'm just worried I'll get bored of it too quickly..
    Any opinions appreciated!!
    Cheers

That looks pretty cool to me...The only thing i wouuld say is that New York is a bit cliched as a mural, have a browse through other cities maybe and see if somethng else takes your fancy.

Really? And do you still like them or have you grown tired of them at all?
I was actually swaying towards the last 2 because I want it bright and fresh looking, the New York one I think would look cool in a bedroom..

They are dead on ya. We have a beach one, a long bridge one and a sunset one. :)

They add to the room I think, one in hall, 1 in sitting room and 1 in dining room :)

First one is deadly other too
Well you could get a massive mirror that would make the room look bigger also!
Are these huge murals expensive? Are they printed on paper like wall paper?
I like the NYC one , where do they come from

They're not too expensive, it'll cost me about €200 to get one for my wall. And you could spend more on fancy wallpaper.
I'll be getting mine from DLK Wall Designs in Dublin 1, I got a toy story one for my sons room off them before and he loves it. It is top quality. You hang them like wallpaper, each piece is nearly a meter wide though but the good thing about that is there's less joints.
Getting a big mirror wouldn't interest me in the slightest, I'm not that excited about looking at myself and am trying to add something nice to the room, seeing the rest of the room again would make it worse i think..
I'm surprised nobody seems to like the other 2, what about this one I'm attaching??
I'll attach the toy story one too

I love murals, but they have to be chosen very carefully and fit in with the rest of the style and purpose of the room. If not, it can look garish.
Wallpaper direct have a great selection and are very good with orders and delivery.

From DLK Wall Designs, you'll get their address off their facebook page or website (dlkwalldesigns.ie), I'd highly recommend them, they're a new outlet and I worked with the owner before. Really know what they're talking about for wallpaper or murals. There's 3 murals on display walls in their showroom (2 kids ones), I hadn't planned on getting one for my lad till I seen them. I was only going in for a nose,

As I said before I already know where I'm getting the mural, it's just the type of image I'm trying to get some 2nd opinions on.
I wouldn't buy a mural from a company like wallpaper-direct for a number of reasons: I like to be able to see and touch wallpapers that I want to buy, I rather the murals that are made to size and specifications (ie papertype vinyl or non-woven) rather than the pre-made standard sized versions. Plus I'd rather spend my money with an Irish owned company than a massive company like wallpaper-direct, littlewoods etc

Fair enough. That is your good right.

The mural I'm getting is gonna be on vinyl paper as its much tougher and easier to wash, like the one I got for my son's room. I'm sure there's gonna be jam on toast and spagetti hoops stuck to it at some stage as it's close to where we eat. And the vinyl is way better for this kind of stuff. The mass produced ones like in that link are on thinner non-woven type paper, which is fine but just not as durable..
Also those pre-made ones are usually made in half lenghts, in other words you have a cross joint half way up the wall, I prefer the ones that run from ceiling to floor.
I'm still swaying towards a scenic nature type mural than a city scape even though nobody else seems to agree :(

It must be country folk who want city scape and the dublin kids who want the scenic one :D

Do you own the shop? I notice you have mentioned it in several posts. I'll admit the wallpapers on the site look fabulous and the prices are good.

Yeah, I also own Gerry Keanes and Stillorgan Decor.. I sold littlewoods and wallpaper-direct last year and my divorce from Laura Ashley finally went through last month so I try to slate her as much as possible cos I'm still bitter about the outcome.. :)
The reason I recommend DLK whenever the topic of wallpaper or murals comes up (not just on boards) isn't cos I know the owner(which I do) but I believe what I say, their wallpapers are higher quality and prices better than most. I also like Gerry Keanes new section upstairs but I suppose cos I don't know him I'm less likely to recommend them.
In this thread I stated at the start that I only wanted to talk about the idea of murals and what type of image people liked as I'm considering getting one for a downstairs room and want to know if other ppl would think it looks cool..
Which is the topic I hope to get back to, it's easy for me to copy the mural images from the web and post it here to get some opinions on them, I was hoping to post one I liked and have a parade of agreement at how amazing it would look hence making me feel much less nervous about my decision.. I've gone off the 2 I liked at the start after seeing nobody else really liked them so it might've stopped me from making a mistake; I can take my time choosing so I might aswell..

    What about this one?

Just my opinion DublinDIY - I find the waterfall, African savannah & tropical island stuff pretty garish tbh.

I've posted murals and decals from Blik here previously, I know they may not be what you're after but they may appeal to some seeking to liven up a wall or two.

That 1st one is shocking, I'd prob piss myself laughing if I walked into a friends house and saw that, the 2 atari ones are class though, really like them. Also like that city/country shadow one. Thats very cool..
Decals are great for livening up the place, great idea for those in rental apartments,.
It seems to be the common view on the savanah and tropical island murals that they're a bit too much.. Glad I got these opinions, I'll find one eventually..
