I noticed the car has a wheel bearing going in the back I changed the other side a couple of months ago and its a simple job that took 20min and cost 55e for the unit(only cone as complete hub?.
I dropped into a garage to get a price on letting them do it as I won't have time over the next few days and taught I was hearing things when the guy said about 250 inc labour, even after I said I know what's involved and have done one..
Looks like IL have to make time :(

Is the wheel bearing they are supplying the same brand as the one you got? Did you get the bearing at trade price or RRP? Do you know the garages hourly labour rate?

It's still a little high IMO if its a complete hub unit but the difference may not be anything like what it seems.

Just do it yourself if you have done the other one.

Parts in the UK would probably be cheaper than here for a start anyway, plus prices can vary depending on brands. Some mechanics may prefer to use specific brands which may explain the price.

If you bought the part in another country then its price is irrelevant to one being supplied here to start with.

As for spurious part, what's your under standing of that? It may not come in a Ford box, but the part could still be a quality OE or even OEM part or it could be some cheap brand so the price difference could be substantial.
