    Hi All,

First time posting so hope this is in the right forum....

To cut a long story short have had a couple of lumbar surgeries over the past 3 years and have been left with a lot of lower back and right leg/foot pain....have done everything from physio, exercising to facet joint injections, epidurals etc.....now I'm getting a spinal stimulator implanted.

Just wondering has anyone else had this done and if so how did things work out for you?.....I am very nervous about it.

    Hi Danny0666

Am due to have the trial implant next week. I have to say even though I have had a couple of surgeries I am very nervous about the implant procedure. Anyhow have to just get on with it...

Can you let me know how the charging of the battery works. How often you have to charge, how long it takes and do you have to sit by a socket to recharge?

How long have you had your implant and can you give me some indications of pro's and con's with it. Has it interfered or caused problems with any of your daily routines?

I have no other options at this time, its either give this a go or resign myself to serious medication dependancy and pain....I am sure your story is the same

Anyhow, thanks in advance for any advice you give;)

Hi Danny666. Yes just got the trial yesterday.

I am really sore..at the moment the'tingling'feeling is in both my legs even though my right leg is where the problem is. also if i sit up straight or bend forward i cant feel anything but if i leans back the level of'tingling'surges up.

maybe this is because its a trial inplant. Were you this sore and did you have movement of sensation of tingling? how long did you have your trial?

I have medtronic inplant is yours the same?

    Any advice is appreciated..

    thanks

    Hi jillyjo
I have a spinal cord stimulator since 2008. It's the best thing I ever got. I get about 60% relief the best of times with it.
I have a Medtronic device and the battery is implanted in my abdomen. I have 2 leads ( 1 lead is for all right upper body from my hip to the top of my head ) the ( 2nd lead is from my hip to the tip of my toes lower body)
I have all right side of my body nerve damage.
I have had all the epidural's, nerve blocks, biers blocks, steroid infusions etc etc and none of them worked for me.

I'm still taken medications with it for the breakthrough pain.
Any questions just PM me anytime
It's normal to be nervous about it but I would stay positive if I was you and try the trial and see what you think if it.

Log onto ' chronic pain Ireland'
Go into the forums and you will see loads of info there from people with stimulators.
    Contact me anytime.
