hi all have a major problem just before xmas my laptop started to freeze now i could not do a thing with it and i had to reboot to get it going again it seems to freeze all the time now.
now i remember changing my ram before it started to freeze so i got a fresh stick of ram and tried that but still it freezes, then i thought the hdd was on its way out and i put another one in but still its freezing, i even reinstalled windows seven but still the same.
i really need laptop for college so any suggestions would be great.
meant to say its a toshiba equium and its 5 years old.

It could be a problem with the hard drive. Is it making an unusual squealing noise?

Run Memtest86+ for a good while.

Grab some Linux Live CD and see how it behaves.

Depends on the processor, thermal specs vary.

Run a number cruncher to stress the CPU.
