Dust balls reappearing same places

I have all timber floors in my house and I was just wondering why after sweeping hallways/rooms dust seems to reappear in same places.

Is this just general or is it something to do with my skirting boards or something else entirely

It's quite likely related to the flow of air in your house. Dust gets carried along in the air until such time as the air can no longer support it.

The airflow could be due to draughts or the opening and closing of doors or even the flow of air behind you in high-traffic areas of your home. Hence, the reappearance of dust in the same areas again and again.

Edit: To minimise dust (you won't eliminate it), don't dry clothing on radiators and use a utility room or similar to fold clothes once they are dry. A lot of dust is made up of clothing fibres, dead skin cells etc so you may be able to reduce it but not eliminate it entirely.
