Prisoners living the high life

Did anyone watch that documentary on RTÉ1 earlier? It was a pretty well produced program compared to RTÉ's usual shite.

It showed the everyday life of scumbags in Shelton Abbey and Wheatfield Prison. These criminals are kept at a cost of €65,000 per year at the tax payers expense. They work on a farm rearing cattle and the like and are generally free to do whatever they please. They get a free education too while people who have never harmed anyone are paying through the nose to put themselves through college.

It showed scenes of these scumbags playing with their Playstations and x-boxes and they also have a gym.

Bloody toerags should be banged up for 23 hours and 45 mins a day and only let out to shower for 15 minutes a day.

    Great little country.

I wouldn't criticise them until I saw recidivism rates compared to either the national average or European average.

From what I understand Open-Air prisons tend to have lower recidivism rates.

Sleeping on a mattress on a cell floor and having to ask to be put on protection, ie 23 hour lockdown.

If that's the "high life" then Im quite happy where I am, thanks.

You have to have a rap sheet the length of your arm to get sent down in this country. We need to bring in the 3 stikes law and 23hr lockdowns.

I worked for the best part of a couple of years in one of those prisons (as a Nurse Officer). I left it with one idea firmly in my head. Prison is NOT a nice place to be (of course it's not supposed to be!). You can have all the play-stations and nice food...... but it ain't a nice to be. Trust me on that....

    Did you drop the soap?

If you go 'stand-up' I won't be the first in line to watch you.
