Just saw this and cannot figure it out:

John is a bull and Mary a cow. They are standing in a square field at opposite corners.

Explain how John can see twice as many cows as there are bulls but Mary can see equal amounts of both. Explain this and how many animals are in the field?

There are two cows. Mary and one other. Mary can see one cow and one bull, John. John can see Mary and one other cow. Simples.

There is 2 cows and 1 bull in the centre of the field.

Therefore Mary can see 2 cows and 2 bulls (including John).

    Total 5 animals.

There's one other cow apart from Mary. John can see both cows. Mary can see the other cow and John.

Apart from John and Mary, there's just 1 cow in the middle of the field.

The problem is that you have left out some crucial background details on John and Mary, Mary (Born to a Sligo Cow, and reared in the belief that Cows were soon to take control over their human captors by introducing a poisonous element to their milk, which would act as a neuro-toxin and through prolonged exposure would led to the Humans lacking the cognitive faculties to sustain their command over the mighty cow),

while John was selected at an early age to become a prize Bull, and was trained and educated, molded to the peak of physical and mental prowess, but in a harsh twist of fate losing to an Aberdeen Angus caused John to resent Humans who had reared him for greatness, before ripping it from beneath his hooves.

John and Mary were thrown together during the great bovine rebellion of 2014, as leaders in their field, they were selected to lead an army in the uprising and they fell in love, a love which burned brightly, though was short lived, as one day a huge argument erupted while they were in a field, Mary accusing John of seeing another cow and events transpired with a tedious inevitability.
