How to remove bearing inner race from steerer tube

I want to change a bearing in the headset but the bearing inner race (1st pic) seems to be stuck solid around the lower crown race on the steerer tube. The bearing outer race (2nd pic) slides off easily over the inner one. Any tools out there for the job or any suggestions.

flathead screwdriver under the bottom and twist. 2ed pic bearings looked knackered.:eek:

At the cost of the tool...........it looks like a job for the LBS, imo....

yup or as feck sake said get a flat head + hammer and slowly (so as not to chip the steerer) hammer it up, just take your time and it should be grand

edit: sorry thought you meant the crown that tool would probably do the job but you could still try the cheap and cheerful hammer + flat head combo

Flat head screw driver is the way to go. Be gentle with it though.

Sweeping brush handle for the races in the frame.

also skurt of wd40 should pop off.

I have used 2 flat-head Precision screwdrivers in the past for the inital leverage, then use a larger flat-head and twist at different points around the circumference of the racer.Be cagey enough with it and it will come loose.

the flat head worked. took about 15 minutes of tapping. loads of teflon based grease went on the crown race before replacement. thanks for advice.

I hope you didn't get any grease on your best football quilt cover though.
