I'm considering getting laser eye surgery and I was wondering could anyone tell me if there are any concessions for medical card holders?

I don't know but would be very surprised if there was. Anyone I know who had it done went to one of the well known private clinics.

No it's not an essential medical procedure.

There is also a question over the long term effects of it.

I was looking at Optilase, would there be a higher risk that the surgery could go wrong or problems developing later because of getting treatment at one of their surgeries as opposed to say, Blackrock Clinic?

It was very reassuring when I was typing 'laser eye surgery Galway' into Google that the top suggestion was 'laser eye surgery gone wrong'. :P

I don't think anyone can answer which place is better than another - it probably amoounts to medical advice. Maybe ask around your friends, acquaintances to hear their experiences.
