RIP. The Good Life was one of his high points for me. I was probably too young to appreciate Ever Decreasing Circles and Monarch of the Glen wasn't my cup of tea as a show but he was very memorable and excellent in it.

One of the most successful small screen actors of the last 40 years has died, Richard Briers was also a top notch Shakespearian Thespian.

I guess for most people Tom Good in the Good Life is his best known comedy though I was very partial to another suburban comedy Every Decreasing Circles as the obsessive Martin Bryce. Nuisance at large.

I was watching Alibi on Saturday night and saw him in an episode of New Tricks.

A talented actor, may he rest in peace.

Remember that from when I was a kid. Paul, the new neighbour was his nemesis. Briers could say so much with just a look.

He really shone as Martin Bryce - the middle-aged middle-Englander with an obsessive compulsive interest in valves, neighbourhood watch rota's and maintaining local standards of garden upkeep. Sorry to see him go.

    RIP.

    The Good Life
    Ever Decreasing Circles
    Monarch of the Glen
A creepy old don in Morse
and a wicked vicar in Midsomer
and thats without all the Shakespearean stuff.

    RIP to a great actor.

RIP, The Good Life was a staple part of my family's Sunday evening viewing in our house back in the 70's

Have to say I loved the music they used that shows intro.

Never really watched The Good Life but I have vague memories of EDC. I liked Briers primarily for his roles in Kenneth Brannagh's various Shakespeare adaptations.

Sad to hear, seemed a true professional in any interviews he gave. British Cinema greatest on screen comedy scoundrel Terry Thomas was a cousin.

Such a fantastic actor and he will be a loss to the English acting world and the rest of us who enjoyed his acting. Rest In Peace Richard.
